It seems that the torch has been pass and progress has been made. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as well as Malcolm X, Thurgood Marshall and other true champions of civil and human rights for the so called Blacks of America all played their part. They did what the could to raise our status. Whether it was fighting inequality on the legal battle field, boycotting for justice & equality, or rallying Blacks to stand independently tall, without fear in the face of our oppressors they did what they could to raise our minds and bodies to a cause like no other. The 50s and 60s were the years for many changes for Blacks and then in the mid 70s we seemed to go flatline. The 8o's and 90s seemed to be plagued with drugs, disease and dispair. In 2001 we thought that entire world would be at war after 911. We were put in fear with talk of a new enemy, "Terrorist" waiting to bomb, poison and destroy us and our way of life. This fear instilled in many of us caused us to allow our true enemies to become president and vice president of the U.S.A. for a second 4 year term. Many thought that we needed a change, but never in our wildest dreams did we imagine that change in form of Senator Obama. Not only does he bear the torch for so called Blacks/African Americans but for people of many colors around this planet. For the many people who thought that there was little or no chance for further advancement think again. Do Not sit on the sidelines! Please join in and vote so that the torch has not been passed in vain!
