Two people were shot on a crowded Bronx street corner early Sunday as gunfire followed a day of neighborhood cookouts and revelry, police and witnesses said, leaving a man in critical condition.

A 28-year-old man was shot in the head at E. 174th St. and Bryant Ave. in Crotona around 12:30 a.m., according to authorities.

The second victim, a 34-year-old woman, was shot in the left knee, cops said.

Medics rushed both victims to St. Barnabas Hospital, where the man is in critical condition and the woman is stable, officials said.

Bystander Angela Smith, 39, said gunfire erupted as about 100 people gathered on the street after leaving barbecues at Crotona Park, just three blocks away.

Cops placed at least two evidence markers on the sidewalk in Crotona.

"I just saw him fall," she said. "Then somebody screamed 'He got shot.' "

Smith said several hundred people spent the evening grilling and drinking in the park with family and friends.

"We went from having a great cookout in the park together to tragedy," she said.
